Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 22, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information You Do, I Do collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the couple-facing app at youdoido.com and to any public wedding site created through it.
1. Information we collect
From account holders (couples)
- Account info: email address and password (used only for authentication — we never see your plain-text password).
- Email preference: whether you asked for planning tips and news from us, and when you turned it on or off. It starts off, and you can change it on your Account page or with the unsubscribe link in any of those emails.
- Wedding details you enter: partner names, wedding date, region, budget figures, guest list, itinerary, seating/venue layout, and checklist items.
- Any photo you upload (for example, a hero photo for your public site).
- Files you attach to your budget — contracts, quotes, invoices, and similar documents. These often contain information about other people, such as a vendor's business details or a signature on an agreement. They are stored privately, are never shown on your public wedding site, and can be opened only by you and the people you've invited to plan your wedding.
- Messages you send to vendors/venues through the Service.
- Your conversations with Wren, the planning assistant: the questions you ask and Wren's answers. We keep them with your account so we can see where Wren falls short and what couples ask most often, and use the common themes, never your own words or anyone's name, to improve the app and write help content. They're deleted with your account.
- Files you choose through “Choose from Drive.” If you connect Google Drive, You Do, I Do asks Google only for the specific file you pick in Google's own picker — it cannot see, list, or open anything else in your Drive. The file is downloaded in your browser and then handled exactly like a file you'd uploaded.
- A Google Sheet you link to your guest list or budget. When you link one (or have You Do, I Do create one in your Drive), syncing reads that sheet and writes your guest list or budget into it, including any notes, from your browser. Anyone you share that sheet with can see what's in it. We store which sheet is linked and a fingerprint of what it held at the last sync, never a copy of the sheet or your Google login. Unlinking stops syncing; the sheet stays in your Drive.
- If you list something in the marketplace: its photos, title, price, description, the first name you give and the pickup town, plus, only if you tick the box, the month and year of your wedding (“Married Oct 2026”). These are public on the listing, and the town is placed on the map by its centre, never your address. Items you save are visible only to you. If the price of something you saved drops, we email you once to say so; unsave it to stop.
- Marketplace messages: what you and the other person write, and the first name you give. Only the two of you see a conversation, unless one of you reports it, in which case we read it to decide what to do. We email you when a new message arrives, with a link rather than the message itself. Who you block is visible only to you.
From guests (no account required)
- Whatever you submit through a public RSVP form: your name, household, meal choice, any allergies or dietary needs you mention, notes, plus-one info, an optional photo, message, and song request. Allergies, dietary needs and anything about access or health you mention go only to that couple, to plan the day; they're never shown on the site or shared with vendors.
- Guest-submitted RSVP data is sent to the couple whose wedding you're RSVPing to; it isn't visible to the general public unless the couple chooses to display it (for example, a guestbook photo/message on their public site).
- A photo or message you post to a couple's guest wall (for example, from the QR code on a reception table), with the name you give. It waits for the couple to approve it before it appears on their wedding site, and they can remove it at any time. Your name is remembered on your own device so a second post is quicker; it's never used to track you.
- Whatever you submit through a couple's address-collection link: your name, mailing address, email address, phone number, and any note you add. This goes to that couple so they can send you an invitation. It is never shown on their public wedding site, and the couple reviews each submission before it joins their guest list.
- When you claim a registry gift or say you gave to a cash fund: your name, how many you're getting or the amount, and any message. This goes to that couple for their thank-you notes. Other guests only see that a gift is taken, never by whom. Money for a cash fund goes straight from you to the couple through the app you choose (such as Venmo or PayPal); we never handle it or see your payment details.
- Your phone number, if you give it on the RSVP form or the couple adds it. If you tick “Text me schedule changes”, we keep a record of the wording you agreed to and when. Texts come from You Do, I Do only when the couple changes their schedule, never to advertise anything. Reply STOP to any of them to stop.
From vendors and venues
- When you list or claim a business: your name and email address, used to review the submission and contact you about it. These aren't shown on your public listing.
- The business details and photos you submit, which become public on your listing once we approve them.
- If you ask You Do, I Do to fill in your listing from your website or a pricing guide or brochure, or to help write your description, the website address, the file or the notes you typed are used to draft it. You check the draft before sending it.
- Businesses we list from public information, before anyone from them signs up: the business name, address, phone number, email address, website and social links, and details such as capacity, services and price range, taken from the business's own website or other public listings. Descriptions are written by us. The email address and phone number aren't shown on the listing; couples reach the business through You Do, I Do. A business can claim, correct or remove its listing at any time from the listing itself or by emailing hello@youdoido.com.
From anyone reporting a listing
- What you tell us through “Something wrong with this listing?”, and your email address if you choose to give it. We use it only to fix the listing and, if you gave your email, to ask you about the report. It isn't shared with the business or shown publicly.
Automatically
Basic technical information needed to operate the Service, such as an authentication session cookie set by our infrastructure provider, and on a password-protected wedding site, a cookie that remembers you've typed the password. We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and doesn't follow you to other sites: it records the page, the referring site, and your browser, device type and country. We don't use advertising trackers. Some wedding-site designs load their fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google, which sees your IP address (see Google's privacy policy). A banner or gallery photo a couple picked from our free photo library is shown from Unsplash's servers, so your browser contacts Unsplash, which sees your IP address. When someone taps a listing's phone number, website or social link, we count the tap against that listing, with no personal details attached, so we can tell the business how many couples found it here. When someone taps “Shop” on an attire item, we count the tap against that item, also with no personal details attached, then send you to the retailer. If the link is an affiliate link, the retailer or its affiliate network may set its own cookie on its site to credit the sale to us; that cookie is governed by its privacy policy, not ours. Inside your account, we note when you reach planning milestones, such as adding your first guest, opening or saving a listing, sending an inquiry or turning on your guest site. The note records which step and when, linked to your wedding, never what you typed, and helps us see which parts of You Do, I Do help and where couples get stuck. It's deleted with your wedding.
Because we don't track you across other websites, there's nothing for a browser's “Do Not Track” signal to switch off, and we treat everyone the same whether or not it's on.
When you send feedback
What you write through the Help page's feedback form, its category, and which account and wedding it came from, so we can fix what's broken and follow up with you.
When you email us
Your email address and the message, kept so we can answer you and see earlier conversations. We also note when an address can't receive our mail, so we stop sending to it.
2. How we use information
We use the information above to:
- operate the Service — store your wedding plan, display your public site, and run your guest list, budget, and seating tools;
- send emails the Service needs — RSVP confirmations, vendor inquiries and reminders you choose to send, and a notice when someone messages you in the marketplace;
- send occasional planning tips and news, only if you turned that on, each with an unsubscribe link;
- respond to support requests; and
- maintain and improve the Service.
We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for third-party advertising.
Features that use AI
These parts of You Do, I Do send information to Anthropic's API to generate a response. Each one runs only when someone asks for it:
- Reading a contract — the document you uploaded or attached is sent so You Do, I Do can write a summary and pull out dates. A signed vendor contract usually contains full legal names, an address, and payment terms.
- Drafting a thank-you note — that guest's name, what they gave, and any message they left.
- The planning assistant (Wren) — your question and the conversation so far, plus details of your wedding so the answer is about your wedding rather than weddings in general: your names, date, state, venue, guest count, budget figures, the vendors you've booked or contacted and what you're paying them, your answers to Wren's planning questions (which can include who's paying and family situations, if you share them), your checklist and, when a question needs it, your guest list (names, households, RSVP status, side, meal choice, plus-ones and tables), your itinerary and your seating plan. Not guests' contact details, addresses or notes. Wren can suggest changes, such as adding a guest or a task, but nothing changes until you press Confirm. If you reach Wren's daily limit, you can choose to open your question in ChatGPT or Claude with your wedding basics filled in; that only happens if you click it, and those services' own policies then apply.
- Filling in a vendor or venue listing — the business's website address, or the pricing guide or brochure they upload, read to draft their listing.
- Writing a listing description — the notes a business types (“ocean views, 200 guests”), turned into a draft for them to edit.
We also use the same API for our own admin work, such as summarising feedback or checking listings. That can include your names, wedding details (date, location, budget, guest count), feedback you've sent us, and questions you've asked Wren (which may mention anyone you named in them), but never your guest list, guests' contact details, or messages you send vendors.
Anthropic processes this to return a result and does not use it to train their models. You Do, I Do's AI output is a starting point you review — not legal, financial, or professional advice.
We may also use aggregated, anonymized budget figures (never guest lists, messages, or anything identifying) to improve the cost estimates the Service shows — for example, refining what a typical wedding costs in a given state and category. This never includes your name, contact info, or any way to identify you or your wedding.
3. Who we share information with
- People you invite to plan — everyone on a wedding can see its details and the email address of everyone else on it. People with view-only access can see but not change anything.
- Vendors/venues you contact — if you send a vendor inquiry, the message and your reply-to email are shared with that vendor.
- Service providers who help us run You Do, I Do, under obligations to protect your data: our database/authentication/file-storage provider (Supabase), our hosting provider (Cloudflare), our email-delivery provider (Resend), our text-message provider (Twilio, only for guests who opted in to schedule updates), and Anthropic, which powers the AI features described above. Weekly backups of our database and files are kept in our private Google Drive and GitHub storage, used only to recover from a failure. These providers process data on our behalf and don't use it for their own purposes.
- Unsplash — only if you search the free photo library for your banner or gallery. The words you search for go to Unsplash from our server, without your name or email, and we tell Unsplash which photo you picked, as its terms require. The photo stays on Unsplash's servers and your site credits its photographer.
- Google — only if you use “Choose from Drive” or link a Google Sheet. You Do, I Do's use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We request the narrowest available permission, which covers only files you personally select or that You Do, I Do creates for you; we don't store your Google account credentials, and we don't use Google Drive data for advertising or sell it to anyone.
- Legal requirements — we may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of You Do, I Do or others.
We don't otherwise share your personal information with third parties.
4. Public visibility
If you (a couple) create a public wedding site, information you choose to display there — guestbook photos/messages, RSVP-form fields, your wedding party's names, roles, photos and the lines you write about them, and your weekend schedule once you publish it — is visible to anyone with the link (or, if you set a password, anyone with the link and the password). Please make sure the people in your wedding party are happy to appear there. Guests submitting an RSVP should know their submission goes to the couple, and anything the couple chooses to feature (for example, a guestbook entry) becomes visible to anyone who visits the public site.
If you share your wedding party's attire link, anyone holding that link can see each member's name, role, colour, size and outfit. It isn't listed on your site or in search engines, but anyone you forward it to can open it.
Two things are never public: your itinerary stays private until you choose to publish it, and contracts or documents you attach to your budget are never shown on a wedding site at all. Wedding sites aren't listed or searchable on You Do, I Do, each one opens only from its own link, and we ask search engines not to index them.
5. Data retention & deletion
We retain your information for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and its data at any time from your Account page, or by contacting privacy@youdoido.com. Deleting your account removes your login immediately; if you're a wedding's owner, it also deletes that wedding and everything on it — including any photos and any contracts or documents you uploaded — except where we're required to retain limited records by law. Your conversations with Wren and any feedback you sent are deleted too. Copies can remain in our private backups for a while afterwards; we use backups only to recover from a failure, and if we ever restore one, we delete again anything you had deleted.
6. Your choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain uses. Contact us at privacy@youdoido.com to exercise these rights. We'll confirm the request comes from you (usually by replying to the email address on your account) and answer within 30 days. Guests can ask the couple directly, or ask us and we'll pass it on or act on it.
We don't sell personal information, or share it for advertising across other sites and apps, as California law defines those terms. Because we don't track you across other sites, we don't respond differently to browser “Do Not Track” signals.
7. Children's privacy
You Do, I Do isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll post the updated policy here with a new effective date.
